Jazz Classes | The jazz program includes instruction in classical jazz. Classical jazz has its own unique and specific movement language and vocabulary. The music and movement can range from energetic and vibrant to soft and soulful. The focus is not only on the technique, but also on the artistry of the movement. Dancers are encouraged to express feelings, ideas and emotions through movement.
Tap Classes | Tap is an integral part of an expanded dance curriculum. Tap is beneficial in many ways, including increasing cardiovascular fitness, strength, flexibility and coordination. Tap builds strength in the legs and feet as well as increasing flexibility in the hips, knees and ankles. Tap also enhances cognitive abilities. To become proficient, dancers must develop muscle memory and mental acuity. Tap develops a great sense of rhythm and timing. Best of all… tap is just plain fun!
Hip Hop Classes | Hip Hop is a dynamic form of dance that is continually being shaped by new music, rhythms, and by the dancers themselves. Come learn the latest moves to the latest music!

Dress Code
LADIES
Students may wear a Ballet West Academy leotard (color determined by ballet placement) or a Ballet West Academy t-shirt or black tank top with the BWA logo for Jazz, Contemporary, and Tap
Shorts or Pants: Dance shorts or jazz pants with BWA logo in black or color for Jazz and Tap
Tights(optional): Theatrical Pink or skin tone
Jazz Shoe: Tan So Danca
Tap Shoe: Patent tap shoe in black
Hair: Hair should be worn in the Academy bun style or ponytail
Hip Hop: Street clothes are acceptable. You are required to buy a pair of white high top tennis shoes or white Converse.
GENTLEMEN
Students may wear a Ballet West Academy compression shirt (color determined by ballet placement) or a Ballet West Academy t-shirt for Tap, Contemporary, and Jazz
Shorts or Pants: Dance shorts or pants in black
Socks: Freed socks in white

Hip Hop: Street clothes and tennis shoes are acceptable.
Hair: Hair should be neatly groomed
HIP HOP
Dancers are encouraged to wear street clothes. All participants need to purchase white tennis shoes, examples being high tops or converse.
