Application Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old by June 1st 2024.

  • Must be able to lift between 20- 50lbs of Marley for studio and rehearsal spaces.

  • Must complete the Resident Intern Application.

  • Must provide 3 references, preferably both personal and work related. Please attach your references and a Cover Letter below to complete the application. 

  • Must be available for the entire duration of the specific Summer Intensive Program working. Please note: Resident Intern’s are considered on call at all times, except for their bi-weekly night’s off.

    • Jun 7-July 13 in Salt Lake City | 5 & 3 week Summer Intensives.

    • July 21-August 3 in St. George, Utah | St. George Summer Intensive.

This Resident Intern position at Ballet West primary obligation is to fulfill the duties associated with the role. It is not solely intended to provide access to the summer intensive program free of charge. Applicants, both from within Ballet West and external candidates, will undergo thorough review and equitable consideration. Please note that commitment to the responsibilities of the Resident Internship is paramount, and all applicants are expected to prioritize these duties. The position is paid a stipend. Travel accommodations to and from the programs are the responsibility of the applicant. Food and Housing will be provided by Ballet West Academy.

Resident Intern Job Description

Expectations

The Resident Intern will:

  • Complete duties assigned by the Head Resident Intern and/or Summer Intensive Coordinator.

  • Assist summer intensive students by having knowledge of Summer Intensive programs and important dates.

  • Enforce rules, regulations, and policies for Ballet West Academy and Westminster College or Utah Tech University.

  • Identify student concerns and problems and report them accordingly. 

  • Be able to take ballet class; as long as it does not interfere with mandatory duties.

Responsibilities

Regularly:

  • Attend mandatory dorm meetings.  

  • Attend mandatory R.I. meetings.   

  • Escort dorm students under 18 traveling to and from the Ballet Centre and Westminster College.  

  • Escort dorm students under 18 on external activities, as needed.  (Previous activities include Starbucks, Target, Smith’s Marketplace, Chipotle, etc.)

  • Participate in daily check in/out of students while ensuring they are in the proper groups according to age requirements.

  • Participate in nightly Room Checks.

Intermittently: 

  • Attend Resident Intern Training before the Summer Intensive begins. Salt Lake 5 week Program- June 8th.  ST. George Program- July 20th (virtual).  

  • Assist with student Move In and Move Out dates.  

  • Assist with keeping the dormitories and studio spaces clean.

  • Assist with transporting students in personal vehicles (as needed).

  • Attend and assist with at least 2 extracurricular activities.  (Previous activities include Silver Lake Hike, Lagoon Amusement Park, Salt Lake Bee’s Baseball game, Decades Prom, etc.)
