STUDENT DIVISION
at our Park City campus

ABOUT THE PROGRAM | The student division at Park City, Utah is designed for students ages 11 to 18. Acceptance and placement are determined by placement only. Promotions are considered on an individual basis and determined in part by an examination demonstrated at the end of the school year and an evaluation by the Ballet West Academy Director and Principal of the Campus. Students in this division can expect to spend more than one year in each level.

CLASSES OFFERED | Student Division classes include ballet, pointe, contemporary, jazz, conditioning, repertoire, and performance.

PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES (REQUIRED): The Nutcracker Suite and Spring Performance (no costume or registration fees), and the All Campus Contemporary Showcase (levels 3-8 only).

ADDITIONAL OPPORTUNITES OFFERED TO LEVELS 4-8: January will be COLLEGE MONTH. Ballet West Academy will bring in three college dance Universities or Colleges to teach master classes and give information about their dance programs. Click here for more information!

ADDITIONAL OPPORTUNITES FOR ALL STUDENT DIVISION DANCERS: WELLNESS WEDNESDAYS POWERED BY INTERMOUNTAIN HEALTH

Allison DeBona is dedicated to helping our dancers develop more than technical prowess. She will ensure mental health and physical nutrition is at the forefront of our education. Our dancers will be guided on how to maintain optimal performance by meeting with team members from Intermountain Healthcare which will include a Physical Therapist, Nutritionist, and Sports Psychologist each semester. Parents will also be given a list of resources to continue to ensure our students are getting the best guidance possible. Wellness Wednesday will commence in January 2024. Click here for more information!

ADDITIONAL CLASSES AND SUMMER SESSIONS WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO OUR INTERMEDIATE AND ADVANCED STUDENTS | Students in this division are encouraged to participate in the Ballet West Academy/artÉmotion Summer Intensives. Summer programs afford the student the opportunity to take multiple classes several days per week during the summers, to ensure dancers return for the fall semester strong and ready for year. We are also encouraging our Student Divison dancers to continue with Tap training, and consider adding Musical Theatre classes. Dancers who are classically trained have the opportunity to have successful careers on Broadway, as well. If you have any questions, please email Allison DeBona and adebona@balletwest.org.

Level 1/2 | Placement by Audition

Upon completing the essential requirements of training and successfully demonstrating appropriate skill level and maturity, students are ready for a more intense and challenging course of study. Female students at this level must show a structural capacity for pointe work and all students must possess ample strength and stamina.  All of the classes in our comprehensive curriculum are designed to best provide the skills necessary to pursue a career in dance. We believe in a healthy and nurturing approach to the development of each student. As the level of difficulty increases, so does the passion for the pursuit for excellence. As a result, every student’s advancement through the program is based on their ability rather than their age.
