The Frederick Quinney Lawson Ballet West Academy Summer Intensive is recognized as one of the top programs in the nation, attracting the highest caliber of dancers. Under the supervision of Ballet West Artistic Director Adam Sklute and Academy Director Evelyn Cisneros-Legate, dancers are provided the opportunity to learn from principal faculty, guest artists, choreographers, and ballet masters from throughout the world. The BWA Summer Intensive focuses on developing well-rounded dancers through exposure to a wide variety of disciplines with an emphasis on classical ballet technique and key elements.

In 2024, Ballet West will continue its partnership with artÉmotion for our Choreographic Workshop and St. George Summer Intensives.

Dancers ages 10-21 years of age are encouraged to audition for one of the six summer intensive we will oversee in 2024. Registration to audition in a city near you, will open on November 1st. Ballet West Academy will also be accepting video auditions, although it comes at high recommendation to audition in person.

International students over the age of 16 are invited to audition for the Salt Lake City Summer Intensive only. International students are welcome to apply via video submission. International students who are invited to participate in the Summer Intensive in Salt Lake City are required to obtain an M-1 student visa in order to attend and it is their responsibility to do so. Please contact jhildreth@balletwest.org upon acceptance of your place in the Summer Intensive. Ballet West Academy School will provide admitted students with an I-20 form and guidance on how to apply. There will be an additional administrative fee of $100 due at the time of enrollment.

Summer Intensives offered in 2024

The Fredrick Quinney Lawson Ballet West Academy and Next Generation Ballet have an exciting announcement for Summer 2024

Ballet West Academy will join Next Generation Ballet as a special affiliate for their 2024 Summer Intensive, held at the Straz center in Tampa, Florida. By coordinating, these two organizations bring together the best in American dance from the east to the west. Ballet West faculty members will be onsite in Florida throughout the program, including Academy Director Evelyn Cisneros-Legate for the final week of the program. Ballet West will be managing the housing aspect of the program.

Military Discount for Summer Intensives & Camps

In acknowledgement of those who serve our county, Ballet West Academy is thrilled to announce a military discount for our 2024 Summer Programs, including Summer Camps and Summer Intensives. 

10% discount on the cost of tuition to dependents of active duty US military personnel, National Guard, and Reservists.  

50% discount to Gold Star families.  

In order to access the Military Discount, please send a copy of a DEERS card or most recent LES as proof of military status to summerintensive@balletwest.org.  

This discount does not apply to the cost of the non-refundable deposit amount and is not applicable to housing expenses for summer programs.
